FIFE & FFF

Although the feline world began to structure itself in the 1920s, the first French studbook was created in 1928 by the Central Society of France, joined in 1929 by the Cat Club of Paris and the French Provinces, and finally by the Cat Club of Champagne in 1931.

The French Feline Federation was founded in 1933. It resulted from the reunification of these three clubs, to which were added the Persian Cat, European Shorthair, Siamese, and Siamese Cat Societies.
The French Feline Society aimed to organize and defend the feline world. Maurice Guinguand was its founding president.

Since then, other territorial clubs and breed clubs have joined its ranks to form one of the largest feline federations in France.

The FIFe was created in 1949 at the instigation of a Frenchwoman, Madame Marguerite Ravel, then president of the French Feline Federation. The first FIFe exhibition brought together more than 200 cats from France and neighboring countries, which was quite an achievement for the time!

In December 1950, the first general assembly officially adopted the statutes, and the FIFe – Fédération Féline d'Europe (Feline Federation of Europe) – was born. In 1972, the name FIFe was changed to Fédération Internationale Féline (International Feline Federation), following the accession of new countries, including Brazil.

Since then, FIFe has maintained its identity, guaranteeing the integrity of its shows, notably through rigorous judge training. Today, FIFe represents more than 40 countries across different continents, making it the world's largest cat federation.
